MEDNEURO2006

The Mediterranean Neurological Society was founded in April 2002 following a decision by neuroscientists from many Mediterranean countries attending the 1^st Mediterranean Congress of Neurology in Limassol, Cyprus.

It shall be known as the Mediterranean Neurological Society herein after referred to as the Society.  Mediterranean countries are those bordering the Mediterranean Sea.

The Society is a non-profit organization and there will be no financial profit to any one of its members as a result of its activities. The objectives of the Society shall be:  

·        To advance development of the neurological sciences among the Mediterranean countries for the benefit of their people.

·        To achieve collaboration between neuroscientists of the Mediterranean countries regarding education, training, research and neurological care.

·        To promote cooperation with other international organizations such as the WFN, EFNS, WHO etc.

·        To protect the rights and interests of neuroscientists in the Mediterranean countries.

·        To promote adequate standards of Ethics in the practice of neurology among its members.

·        To organize at least every 2 years the Mediterranean Congress of Neurology in a different country which will be decided by the General Assembly during the previous Congress. Other scientific meetings will be organized as necessary.

·        To publish a scientific journal, newsletter or other appropriate material for the best communication with its members and the promotion of their work.  

The official language of the Society and the Mediterranean Congress of Neurology is English.
